So we’ve all done reality TV. Whats next?
How about a virtual reality website thats so realistic, you can earn a real-life six-figure salary? That’s what Reuben Steiger has been preaching for three years now. Reuben gave up a lucrative real-world job to become Chief Evangelist at Linden Lab, creators of a 3-D virtual-world known as Second Life. Thanks in part to Reuben, Second Life now has nearly 1 million ”denizens” throughout the world, producing a gross domestic product of about $150 million a year. But that wasn’t enough for Reuben. His career took on a second life at Millions of Us, a Sausalito agency that helps companies harness the power of virtual landscapes. As virtual worlds become more and more real, will we learn to live without the real world? The answer is virtually just a click away.

Millions of Us is a catchy name for this niche. It’s amazing that so many Fortune 1000 companies already see the power of this virtual world. That should tell us the fire has ignited. Hope the rest of the world is ready to deal with this scary, but fascinating pull towards the UN-REAL world. What’s next????

[…] Laura Wegner of ad agency Ralston360 came by our new office in Sausalito about a month ago and shot this interview with me that does a great job of shining a very bright light on what an immense dork I look like on camera. Also how often I say “Um” and “Right”. Oh well, enjoy the laugh. She shows off some of our work and also some cool builds by our friends at Rivers Run Red and Aimee Weber Studios. […]

In this seven minute promo video Laura Wegner of Ralston360 chats with Reuben about his views on the past, present and future of SL. Looking beyond the promo aspect of this video it is the best introduction to SL I’ve seen todate. […]

Great interview with a great guy! Almost didn’t recognize him without his glasses.
A very nicely done overview on what SL is. I can see me showing this to people in the future.

Great interview there, Reuben, I like it. Good showcase of SL.
I wish there was a way to turn the avatar around more, camera pan on him maybe with alt-zoom left mouseclick, I realize that’s a chore.
